Reliquary of the senses is a mixed media installation created in response to a Victorian mourning artefact from the V&A archives. Images are trascribed by lithography and ‘erased’ by rubbing , bleaching, scraping.
The ethereal images are framed in arched wood frame. Their eerie quality relates to spirituality.
The pieces of painted broken stoneware and the found object incarnate the ‘body’. The installation relates to image symbolism around death, alchemical transformation and apparent oxymoronic concepts of ‘real vs imaginary’, ‘spiritual and visceral’.
